Fire Damages Units At Mountain Resort

BEND, Ore.

Fire severely damaged a building housing 24 condominium units at The Inn of the Seventh Mountain resort yesterday.

The blaze broke out about 3 p.m. and damaged 60 to 70 percent of the two-story building in the southwestern corner of the resort, according to Jack Rainey, the inn's director of marketing and sales.

By the time Bend firefighters arrived, the fire had spread to much of the structure.

All of the units had been rented, but few people were in them at the time of the fire. Everyone was evacuated and there were no injuries, said Capt. Ralph Mabee of the Bend Fire Department.

No dollar estimate of the damage was disclosed yesterday.

The resort, seven miles southeast of Bend on the road to the Mount Bachelor ski resort, has 21 buildings and 380 units. Fire destroyed a building housing several condominiums at the resort in August 1988.
