Kuipers Sparks Watson Groen Christian
Watson Groen Christian battled throughout the game, forced overtime and won in the Tri-District B boys basketball tournament.
Joel Kuipers scored 19 points to lead the Crusaders to a 67-63 overtime victory over Seattle Lutheran last night. The 6-foot-7 senior center also pulled down 20 rebounds and hit the shot that forced OT.
Watson Groen Christian did not fall behind in overtime and got key free throws from Kuipers and John Slotemaker, who finished with 16 points.
Chris Shoemaker led Seattle Lutheran with 28 points, while Josh Menashe had 11.
In other games, Summit of Seattle dumped Darrington 85-68, Christian Faith of Des Moines downed Quilcene 79-52, and Tacoma Baptist edged Grace Academy 43-40.
-- AT CHRISTIAN FAITH 79, QUILCENE 52 - Geoff Ping scored 21 points and had eight rebounds and four assists to lead Christian Faith. Rick Keiffer scored 26 points and Brent Such added 11 for Quilcene.
Tri-District B girls
-- NORTH SEATTLE CHRISTIAN 66, AT WATSON GROEN CHRISTIAN 55 - Ramah Andrews poured in 27 points, including five three-pointers, to power North Seattle Christian. North Seattle Christian (17-7) shot 52 percent from the field. Jill Sonsteby added 16 points for the Lions, including a shot that traveled nearly the length of the court before bouncing off the backboard and going in. Leah Goold scored 19 points for Watson Groen Christian (11-13).
In other games, Clallam Bay defeated Concrete 47-36, Orcas Island defeated Christian Faith 62-45, and La Conner defeated Bush 63-31.

-- KENTRIDGE 75, KENT-MERIDIAN 63, AT AUBURN - Junior center Jeremy Flagel and senior guard Warren King combined for 47 points as the third-ranked Kentridge beat No. 5 Kent-Meridian 75-63 in a South Puget Sound League North Division tiebreaker game. The teams shared the North Division crown with 11-1 records after splitting their two regular-season games, forcing the tiebreaker to decide the seedings into this Saturday's SPSL tournament. Kentridge (20-1) earned the right to play Puyallup (14-6), the South Division champion, at 9 p.m. Both teams are assured of first-round byes at the West Central District tournament. Kent-Meridian (17-4) plays Rogers (15-5), the No. 2 South Division team, at 5:30 p.m. to determine the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds to district.
