Ray Danton, Child Radio Star Who Went On To Movies

LOS ANGELES - Ray Danton, a child radio star who went on to play villains and leading men in film and worked as a director in television, died Tuesday (Feb. 11) of kidney failure. He was 60.

As a 12-year-old, Danton joined Nila Mack's young radio troupe on the "Let's Pretend" children's theater series.

In film, Danton was a renegade in "Chief Crazy Horse" and a Susan Hayward love interest in "I'll Cry Tomorrow." He played title roles in "The Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond" and "The George Raft Story."

His other screen credits include "The Longest Day," "The Chapman Report," "Too Much Too Soon," "Ice Palace" and "Portrait of a

Mobster."
