Univar Taps Alampi To Head Subsidiary

Univar Corp. said James Alampi has been named president of Van Waters & Rogers Inc., Univar's U.S. operating subsidiary and largest business unit.

Alampi has been senior vice president-administration for Univar, North America's largest chemical distribution company. The position had been held by James Bernard, president and chief executive officer.

The move will structure Univar more like a holding company and allow Bernard, as CEO, to give up day-to-day responsibilities for Van Waters & Rogers operations, said Bill Whitlow, an analyst at Gallagher Capital in Seattle. "It makes a lot of sense to me," Whitlow said.
