Downtown Gallery Owner Publishes Unique Art Book
DOWNTOWN
"I Don't Know Much About Art but I Know What I Like," is a new book published just in time for the holidays by Bainbridge Island artist Christopher Paul Bollen.
It describes how Bollen works, what motivates him, his philosophy, why he painted some of the works featured, and even how he thinks they should be matted and framed, and more. He and his wife, Susan, run the Christopher Paul Bollen Gallery, which includes a restaurant in the basement, at Third Avenue and Union Street.
Bollen, a prolific and self-taught artist, first earned his living in Seattle by knocking on doors, asking to do sketches of prominent Seattle homes. Now, branching into watercolors and more formal pieces depicting mostly water scenes, he sells his work (and the book) only in his gallery.
