Test-Drive Our New Crossword
Beginning today on the Sunday Puzzles and Predictions page, we are offering readers the chance to test the Newsday Crossword Puzzle.
According to editor Stanley Newman, the clues are humorous and often use wordplay, and they avoid obscure "crosswordese" terms. Rather, the puzzle features a balance of popular culture and traditional knowledge aimed at readers of all ages.
We are asking readers to try the Newsday puzzle and compare it with the Observer's crossword that had been running in that space. The Times invites readers' comments. Write to Comics Editor, The Seattle Times, P.O. Box 70, Seattle, WA 98111. Or call the Comics/Puzzles Response Line, 464-3127.
