Redd Foxx's Death Leaves `Royal Family' In Doubt
NEW YORK - The death of comedian Redd Foxx, star of CBS' "Royal Family," puts the future of that Wednesday night sitcom in doubt.
CBS spokesman Michael Silver said yesterday that "Royal Family" would not air this week. Instead, CBS will televise two episodes of "Teech," which follows it on the schedule. On Oct. 23, the network will broadcast a World Series pregame show.
"Royal Family" will return Oct. 30, Silver said.
There are three unaired shows remaining of the seven already produced, but whether the show would be reogranized around co-star Della Reese remains unanswered.
"It's still too early for anything substantial," said Susan Morrisette, assistant to the producers at Eddie Murphy Productions, which produces "Royal Family" for Paramount Television.
