Royals have 55 players out and a strong underclass with lots of potential.

MEADOWDALE

If they can gain some maturity early on, they can be a big factor in league.

MONROE

Mann predicts four sophomores could be in starting lineup by end of season.

MOUNT. TERRACE

Strength at skill positions gives Scots slight edge in new AA league after dropping down from WesCo AAA.

CASCADE

-- COACH: Roberta Hasstedt. -- TOP RETURNEES: Dani Marks, Sr., outside hitter; Marci Walters, Sr., outside hitter; Lisa Sainsbury, Sr., middle hitter; Jacqui Jonas, Sr., middle hitter. -- TOP NEWCOMERS: Ching-Ling Chen, Sr. setter. -- OUTLOOK: Tragedy with cross country team stunned many players and volleyball took backseat. Newcomer Chen gives team the setter it needs, and Bruins figure to be in middle of hunt.

ED.-WOODWAY

-- COACH: Mike Pittis. -- TOP RETURNEES: Kolleen Faires, outside hitter, Sr.; Cara Barth, middle blocker/setter/hitter, Sr. -- OUTLOOK: Warriors are without an experienced setter for first time in five seasons under Pittis. Barth, best volleyball athlete on team, may move into that position out of necessity. Pittis will have team in contention.

EVERETT

MARINER

-- COACH: Bud Davis, second year. -- TOP RETURNEES: Taunya Cook, 5-6, Sr., outside hitter. -- TOP NEWCOMERS: Rachel Dunham, 5-6, Jr., hitter; Liz Reed, 5-4, Jr., setter. -- OUTLOOK: Marauders lack size, witnessed by the fact that Cook is a hitter at 5-6, although she does posess a 23-inch vertical leap. Reed needs to come through as the team's quarterback and rest of young team must mature.

MARYSVILLE

Chemistry is there, and team has talent.

SNOHOMISH

-- COACH: Diane Hallberg, first year. -- TOP RETURNEE: Suzi Lemon, 5-8, Sr., outside hitter. -- TOP NEWCOMERS: Chrissy Sursley, 5-10, Jr., middle hitter; Traci Sams, 5-5, Jr., setter. -- OUTLOOK: The Panthers have a strong junior class, which Hallberg coached two seasons ago at the junior-high level. A lot depends on how much maturity the team can find during the first few weeks of the season. The athletes are there if they can put it together.
