Great Northwest Savings Now A Bank

Great Northwest Federal Savings and Loan Association now is known as Great Northwest Bank.

The subsidiary of GNW Financial said it has completed its conversion from a federal savings and loan to a state-chartered savings bank. The move, including the conversion of the parent to a bank-holding company, is expected to save the bank about $100,000 a year, said Chairman Raymond Soule.

Great Northwest, 75 years old, operates 17 branches in the Puget Sound and Spokane areas.
