Nastymix Sues Sir Mix-A-Lot

Sir Mix-a-Lot, Seattle's top rap star, is being sued by his former label, Nastymix Records.

Nastymix has filed a breach of contract suit in state Superior Court charging that Sir Mix-a-Lot, whose real name is Anthony Ray, breached his recording agreement with the label. The suit also names Def American Records, saying it knowingly interfered with Nastymix's contract with Mix-a-Lot by signing a deal for his next album.

Sir Mix-a-Lot had a million-selling album on Nastymix called "SWASS." Another of his albums for the label, "Seminar," has sold more than half a million copies. He left Nastymix last year to form his own label, Rhyme Cartel, which recently signed a distribution deal with Def American.
