SHIRLEY'S PLACE: Looking for some choice real estate? Go call Shirley MacLaine, that fine actress and consummate kook, who's put her four-bedroom Tacoma house on the block. Interested? You should be - the place is situated on 105 choice acres and boasts a gorgeous view of Mount Ranier and more than a half mile of Puyallup River waterfront. The price? A mere $1.2 million. Hello?
WALKING SOME FINE LINES: The judge at the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny String Bikini Showdown in Biloxi, Miss., seemed uncomfortable when it was time to check for the best tan lines. Former teen-age heart throb Donny Osmond does have an image to uphold. But even though his song list for the show included "Puppy Love," he wanted to make it clear he has grown up since the '70s. "It really wasn't the hippest of images," he said.
A MISH-MASH BASH: Masha Kalinina, 19, crowned as the Soviet Union's first beauty queen in 1988, denies rumors of the so-called "Mish-Mash Affair" with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. "I cannot even imagine it," the model and aspiring actress recently told L.A. reporters. "He is as old as my father. It is not possible." Kalinina says she's never even met Gorby.
WATCH OUT, PAT PAULSEN: Humor columnist Dave Barry calls himself the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, but a statewide poll indicates he's hardly a household name, even in Miami where his household is situated. The poll of 843 voters found that Barry, 43, who writes a nationally syndicated column that appears in The Seattle Times, is less well known than former U.S. Sen. Paul Tsongas. "This is more of a strategic move on my part. I'd rather be obscure now and really famous later," Barry told the Herald. "Now that I appear in a poll, do I get Secret Service protection?"
SHE ACCEPTED HIS DARE: Bushwick Bill, leader of the rap group the Geto Boys, had surgery to remove his right eye after he was shot in the face. Bill, 20, a dwarf whose real name is Richard Shaw, said he was drunk and suicidal when he dared his girlfriend to shoot him. When she refused, he chased her around their apartment throwing things at her, he said. Finally, Bill told the cops, she lowered the gun and he put his face in front of the barrel as she fired. He's listed in good condition after the operation and is awaiting a glass eye implant. His girlfriend, Tamika Nicole Randleston, 17, was charged with assault.
PURPLE AND PROLIFIC: Prince has another album coming out. "Diamonds and Pearls," is due in August, and he's readying five videos from it. Spike Lee and Lisa Bonet will direct one each.
FROM THE HOME OFFICE: The New York Daily News ran photos of David Letterman playing softball in Central Park last week and came up with a top 10 list as to why he does it so passionately. Among them: high resale value of weapons found discarded in outfield grass; chance to annoy pesky joggers by yelling "Heads up!" every time someone hits a ball; dibs on a choice location for the park's next Simon and Garfunkel reunion concert; and - the No. 1 reason - the burning desire to prove that he's twice the athlete Larry "Bud" Melman is.
THIS STAR'S INTO STARS: Taking a page from the Nancy Reagan book of success, Demi Moore is having her career guided by a psychic, says the New York Post. The guru is Maria Papapetros, 46, who will pass on all roles offered to the actress. In her next movie, "The Butcher's Wife," Moore plays a (well, whaddaya know?) clairvoyant.
