Trackers Hunt For Woman, 59, Missing In Hike
ISSAQUAH
Volunteers were to resume a search on Squak Mountain today for an Issaquah hiker reported lost Saturday evening.
Donna Barensten, 59, was hiking with her husband when she dropped behind him. When her husband noticed Barensten had lagged behind, he returned down the trail but could not find her.
The man searched for several hours with a neighbor and the neighbor's dog before calling police around 9 p.m.
Search-and-rescue volunteers looked for Barensten most of yesterday. She was reported to be in good health and was an experienced hiker, police said.
Explorer Scouts, search dogs, four-by-four vehicles and Northwest Trackers were called in for the search. The terrain, on the north and northwest flanks of the mountain, was described as wooded and steep.
