Trade Of Xavier Mcdaniel Was A Good One For Sonics
Over the last month, many articles have been written about the controversial trade of Xavier McDaniel to the Phoenix Suns for Eddie Johnson. While it might not have been prudent to trade him to a team in Seattle's division, the trade may not be so bad after all, for the following reasons:
-- McDaniel has had knee problems in the past and can't possibly be expected to play 82 games at an all-star level for Phoenix.
-- Johnson is a great sixth man. He has a great outside shot and can complement Olden Polynice, a defensive-oriented player, coming off the bench.
-- Johnson is more of a positive role model than McDaniel, who has a reputation for fighting.
Although I respect both players' athletic abilities, I believe this trade was a good trade for the Sonics. Let's quit this petty name-calling so the Sonics can win the NBA championship.
