Bo Jackson To Miss Afc Title Game

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Los Angeles Raider tailback Bo Jackson will not be available for Sunday's American Football Conference championship game because of a hip injury suffered in last week's victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, a team doctor said yesterday.

``He won't play this week,'' Raider physician Robert Rosenfeld said after yesterday's practice.

Rosenfeld also suggested that Jackson's injury could force the tailback out of Super Bowl XXV, should the Raiders defeat the Buffalo Bills at Rich Stadium.

``I only wish we had two weeks before the Super Bowl,'' Rosenfeld said.

This year, as part of the NFL's new television package, there will not be an extra week off between the conference title games and the Super Bowl.

VAUGHN PICKS DRAFT

-- ST. LOUIS - Michigan tailback Jon Vaughn, a third-year sophomore, said he will leave school to enter the NFL draft, where he expects to be chosen in an early round.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M fullback Robert Wilson and Texas Tech cornerback Sammy Walker, two of the top Southwest Conference juniors, are following a nationwide trend by forfeiting their final year of eligibility to enter the draft.

Wilson and Walker each cited potential financial opportunities in the NFL as the No. 1 reason for the decision.

Also, Clemson officials announced that second-team All-America placekicker Chris Gardocki and cornerback Dexter Davis had notified the NFL that they would enter the draft.

MUNOZ TO UNDERGO SURGERY

-- CINCINNATI - Bengals offensive lineman Anthony Munoz, fresh from missing his first game due to injury in 11 seasons of pro football, is to undergo surgery next week for a shoulder injury.
