The Knights Diner
This bright-red railroad car has sat at the side of the road (5717 4th S.) for more than 50 years serving up quality steaks and burgers, mountains of fried potatoes, four-egg omelets and homemade pies. You have to check your cholesterol level just driving by. Not that anyone in the neighborhood seems to care. (Nice place to slide into a counter seat, grab a paper and casually chat with the locals.) This is industrial-strength food for an industrial area. Open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
