Dee Clark, Singer; `Raindrops' Biggest Hit
SMYRNA, Ga. - Rock 'n' roll singer Dee Clark, who had a string of hits in the '60s including ``Raindrops'' and ``Hey Little Girl,'' died yesterday at age 52, apparently of a heart attack, police said.
Mr. Clark, who had been ill for several years, was found dead at the Knight's Inn in Smyrna, said Cobb County police Lt. Ed Clack.
A Chicago native, Mr. Clark's career began in the early 1950s with the Hambone Kids, a rhythm and blues group. He later formed a singing group called the Kool Jets.
His solo career began in 1957 and included four albums and appearances on Dick Clark's ``American Bandstand.''
Mr. Clark was best known for his recording of ``Raindrops,'' which sold 2 million copies in 1961.
In addition to ``Hey Little Girl,'' his hits included ``High School Sweater,'' ``Just Keep It Up,'' and ``Warm Summer Breeze.''
Mr. Clark recently performed at a Stone Mountain night club with the rock 'n' roll group the Tams.
