5 Are Wounded By B.C. Gunman

DELTA, B.C. - An educational meeting at a high school about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse ended with two men shot to death and three others injured.

Police said a man who had a semiautomatic rifle shot 10 to 15 rounds at five people near the auditorium of the school here. The gunman fled in a gray van.

One survivor told his brother the shooting began as he and four friends left the auditorium.

``The two guys who died were the first to come out,'' Swinder Bhatti, brother of Jatinder Bhatti, 24, of Richmond, B.C., said last night. Bhatti suffered a superficial gunshot wound. He was treated at a hospital and released.

Baljinder Gill, 26, of Vancouver and Jasbinder Khak, 27, of Richmond, B.C., were killed.

The wounded men were identified as Gurchragan Kandola, 29, of Surrey, B.C., and Sarbjit Sahota, 27, of Merritt. They were reported in stable condition in a hospital.

An arrest warrant on charges of first-degree murder was issued for Harnek Singh Lalli, 33, a Vancouver-area resident, police said.
