Holiday-Weekend Accidents Kill Four

OLYMPIA

At least four people died in traffic accidents on rain-slick Washington roads over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the State Patrol said.

Not included in the patrol's fatality count was a 28-year-old Duvall man who was swept away and presumed drowned early yesterday after he and his family left their car on a flooded road in east King County and tried to walk through high water.

According to the patrol, killed in traffic accidents were:

-- Richard Bryan, 60, of Tacoma. He died last night in a two-car accident about a half-mile east of Tacoma at 104th Street East and Golden Given Road.

-- Samuel P. Deardorff, 20, of Bellingham. Deardorff, a passenger, died instantly in a one-car accident on Saturday night in Whatcom County 9.5 miles west of Bellingham on Cagy Road.

-- Alane Wilson, 19, of Goldendale. Wilson, a passenger, died in a two-car collision Saturday night in Klickitat County 2.6 miles south of Goldendale on Washington 97.

-- John M. Reed, 77, of Port Angeles, was killed Wednesday night on Washington 101 in Clallam County. Reed was crossing the road from north to south when he was fatally struck by a westbound car, the patrol said.
