Issaquah Depot Makes Historic List

ISSAQUAH

The 101-year-old Issaquah train depot has been placed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Situated a block east of Front Street, the depot was built to serve the area called Squak Valley a century ago. The city was notified of the designation by the state Office of Archeology and Historic Preservation.

Restoration of the building began five years ago through the efforts of the Issaquah Historical Society and local service clubs. The foundation was replaced as well as the roof and sub-flooring, the chimney was rebuilt and the building repainted using its origianl barn-red.

When restoration of the interior is completed, the building will house a historical museum.
