Westair to merge

with Fresno carrier

FRESNO, Calif.

Westair Holding Inc., parent of NPA Inc., said a restructuring and cost-cutting program will merge NPA with WestAir Airlines.

NPA Inc. is a Pasco-based regional airline operating as United Express. WestAir is a Fresno-based carrier that operates as United Express in California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and 13 Eastern states.

As many as 75 of 2,800 employees may lose their jobs as a result of the restructuring, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Flynn said the merger will make WestAir one of the single-largest regional airlines in the U.S., with service to 63 cities in 13 states and the District of Columbia.
