Activities To Mark Streetcar Extension

SEATTLE

A parade, speeches, music and free trolley rides will mark the extension of the waterfront streetcar today at the International District and Pioneer Square.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. and runs from Fifth Avenue South and South Jackson Street north to South Main Street and west to the waterfront. Ceremonies begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Washington Station at South Washington Street and Alaskan Way South.

Rides begin shortly after the ceremonies and will be free throughout the day. The service, which is now two miles long, is 8 years old.
