Former Sooner Assistant Gets Prison Sentence

-- DRUGS

Scott Hill, a former University of Oklahoma assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator, was sentenced today in Houston to 15 months in a federal prison after pleading guilty to a charge of distributing cocaine.

U.S. District Judge Norman Black also imposed a $10,000 fine and ordered Hill to serve three years on special probation after he serves his sentence.

Hill, 36, resigned in March 1989 at the request of David Swank, who was serving as the university's interim president. Regents said Swank requested Hill's resignation because of his role in NCAA violations that led to the football program being placed on three years' probation. Hill played for the Sooners from 1973 through 1976 and was co-captain and All-Big Eight safety his senior year.
