Anthony's Blast Raises Roof, Astros' Record

HOUSTON - Houston's Eric Anthony's first home run of the season is one that will be recorded in Astrodome lore.

``It was one of the longest home runs I've ever seen. He crushed it,'' said Ken Oberkfell, whose 11th-inning sacrifice fly gave the Astros a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs last night.

The victory snapped a six-game Houston losing streak.

But Anthony's second-inning home run highlighted the game. The homer was a towering shot that traveled into the second row of the upper deck in right field. It was only the sixth time in the Astrodome's 25-year history a homer has been hit into the upper deck.

``I knew I hit it well. It's definitely one of the furthest I've ever hit. . .''

Houston Manager Art Howe estimated that Anthony's home run traveled 500 feet.
