Minus Coach, Storm Dumps Victoria 3-0

No head coach. No player of the week. And no apologies from the Seattle Storm.

Saari was enough. And given a Chance, the Storm made it look easy, beating the Victoria Vistas 3-0 in a non-league soccer match before about 2,200 at Memorial Stadium last night.

Chris Saari scored 30 minutes into the game, and Chance Fry added another goal 12 minutes into the second half, leading the Storm (3-1) to its third straight win. Saari added an assist on Peter Fewing's goal with five minutes left in the game.

Seattle was playing without Coach Stuart Lee, who was home in Great Britain where his wife gave birth to their third child 10 days ago, and Brent Goulet, who was named last week's American Professional Soccer League Player of the Week after just one game as a Storm player. Goulet's injured ankle is expected to be well enough for him to play in Friday's league match at Los Angeles.

A Don Farler throw-in set up Saari's goal. The throw went off Victoria goalie Schel Brodsgaard's fingertips, dropping in front of the net, where Saari picked it up for an easy score.

Fry fielded a cross from Jim Weber, settled it, faked once and fired past three defenders from five yards out for his goal.

Grant Gibbs entered the game in the middle of the second half and lasted just one minute, 20 seconds, earning a red-card ejection for fighting with the Vistas' Dallas Moen.
