FEDERAL WAY
King County police are looking for a suspect in the rape of a prostitute who reportedly was held captive 28 hours.
The woman was picked up by her assailant in Seattle Thursday afternoon and escaped, naked and handcuffed, Friday night in Federal Way, police said yesterday.
King County police Detective Pat Maley called the attack unusually brutal.
According to police reports and Maley, the victim, 21, was picked up in the 700 block of Aurora Avenue North in Seattle late Thursday afternoon by a man in a dark silver van. When the woman refused to perform a sex act the man demanded, he held a butcher knife to her throat, police said.
The suspect handcuffed her and at one point hit her in the temple with a hammer.
Over the next 28 hours, the man drove her to two locations and raped her between 10 and 15 times. He threatened repeatedly to kill her, police said.
About 9:30 p.m. Friday, after he stopped to make a telephone call, she escaped and ran to a tavern.
The victim, who had bruises over all her body, was treated at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way and released.
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call King County police at 296-7557.
