-- DEATH

Campbellsport (Wis.) High School students are mourning the death of a 17-year-old basketball player who died in a car crash the day after he helped his team win a regional championship.

Brian Leider was killed Sunday night a half-mile from his home when he failed to yield at an intersection and was hit broadside by another vehicle, according to police.

Several counselors were at the school yesterday to help grieving students and faculty, the principal's office said.

Leider scored 11 points Saturday night as Campbellsport defeated Brown Deer 68-66 for the Class B regional championship. The victory put the Campbellsport team into the sectionals of the state championship; the squad is scheduled to play Thursday.
