WALLA WALLA ESCAPEE CAPTURED IN CANADA

SHERWOOD PARK, Alberta

A man who escaped from the Washington State Prison in Walla Walla more than 15 years ago while serving a term for manslaughter has been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

David Harry Fisher, 49, was arrested yesterday afternoon outside Sherwood Park, near Edmonton, after he had been recognized by someone watching a recent episode of ``Unsolved Mysteries'' in which his case was featured, said RCMP radio operator Trudy Holt.

Fisher has been living in Canada under an alias since his escape in September 1974. Holt said he was being held for return to Pierce County.

Charged initially with first-degree murder, he was convicted of manslaughter in the 1970 death of Laura Lee Burbank, 13, of Tacoma. She disappeared June 30, 1970, after leaving her home to feed animals at a local pet store where Fisher worked.
